This page documents my quest for real time RAW video processing using JACK Video
To get RAW video into the computer, one can either use 1394 IIDC or the HD SDI physical interface. The HD SDI is the pseudo standard used in the broadcasting industry.
Like with audio, the whole computer system is locked in an exact RAW format and sample rate, which is 24 bits (32 bits transfer) and 96kHz sample rate. The video industry got several pseudo standards, and for HD, one is RAW video at 1080p25, which I lock my system to.

Getting digital negatives in and out of the computer. The most simple solution is a single PCI-E card with a single HD SDI plug, like this one:
